Kim has provided us with the Sketch for our Just Add Ink Challenge this week.  It’s a great sketch cause it’s reasonably simple and therefore has many possibilities.  Here is the Sketch:

JAI # 210 Just Add Easter bags, boxes and baskets

The first Term at School is nearly done, the Hot Cross Buns have been in the shops since Boxing Day and the supermarkets are full of wall to wall Chocolate Eggs – so that must mean a sneaky Bunny is about to go hopping through town – leaving hidden treats everywhere!  And when the bunny does arrive, we at Just Add Ink will be ready with our Just Add Easter bags, boxes and baskets……..hee hee hee!!

I made a box and matching card.  I used strips of paper to make the decorated panel for my egg shape.  The little chicks were made with the Bird Punch.

Visit Just Add Ink to see more Easter boxes and baskets.

JAI # 176 Just Add…Blokes!

I find, I make so many girly cards.  They are all pretty and flowery.  So this week’s Just Add Ink Challenge – Just Add Blokes was welcomed by me.
I put together a couple of Blokes cards – one of which I have already given away so can’t show it to you.   Here is the other one:

I used Basic Black, Basic Gray and Whisper White. The stamp set is Clockworks which is a very versatile set.

To see a whole heap of other cards/projects for Blokes visit Just Add Ink.
Have a go at the Challenge and share your Bloke projects with us too.

I also decided to put together (case) a few cards I have seen lately that can be used for Boys/Men too.

The first is the Lego Card (cased from Vicki Hodgman).  There are many Lego cards out there but I really liked the layout that Vicki had used.  Here is my version.

Believe me…..that’s a whole lot of dots!!

Next up I decided to make and Angry Birds card.  There are heaps of these around at the moment too.  My sister Nadine made one recently that I really really liked – it’s so cute.  Here is my version:

I thought this was so cute.  I (excitedly) showed it to Sarah and she said…..”Nah, it’s not as good as Aunty Noo Noo’s”!     Ohh  lol!

So, while at work I was thinking about it ….. thinking – how can I change that card to make it “MINE” ……. this is what I came up with.
DSC09998 (2)

So I folded it a bit differently and used a rubber band to hold it closed.

DSC00007 (2)

Then when you remove the rubber band and open it up there is another little Angry Bird flying through the sky on the inside.  Ha Cute!!
I actually think my Angry Bird looks more like an Annoyed Bird……but you get the idea.

This week I have been working on a 3D C – for Chantell.  I decided to add some leaves to it as decoration.  To fit with the DSP I decided to just stick with White leaves.

This was a fun project to put together and a great Challenge to Just Add Leaves.  Perhaps you want to Just Add Leaves too?  Go to Just Add Ink and check out the other Just Add Leaves projects there.

JAI # 168 – Sketch Challenge

Yes – I know, it’s true…..I have not blogged since April!  I could offer you a list of excuses cause I can think if quite a few….but I think it would be better if I just got on with it instead.

So – at Just Add Ink – we are up to Challenge # 168.  It’s a sketch challenge by Mae.

JAI168_Sketch[1]

This was a great sketch and I had several idea’s in mind – but I ended up going with this card……

DSC00010 (3)

Originally I had my birdhouse more of a diamond shape – but then I changed it a bit….well actually my husband changed it (before it was stuck together).  I love it when I secretly get him carding……heehee don’t tell him.

Oh and while I am here – I thought I would post my last weeks JAI Challenge – the Challenge was Just Add Fabric (although the challenge is closed now) I really liked how these came out.

I made some fabric and paper flowers and decorated some pegs, that I put on magnets.  They came out great and are very colourful.

Big Shot, Challenges, Just Add Ink, Man Cards

JAI # 78 Colour Challenge

At Just Add Ink this week we have a Colour Challenge for you.  I thought the colours were great MAN colours – which was perfect for me because this week we have celebrated my FIL’s Birthday.  Here are the Just Add Ink Colour’s for this week:

Here is the Card I did:
For this card I took inspiration from a Card I had seen done for a previous JAI Challenge in the middle of last year by Naomi.  (I tried to find the link to her card but the link no longer seems to be working)  However…..if you see this Naomi – thank you for the inspiration – I loved the card you did and wanted to have a go at it myself.

I happen to have some Chocolate Chip Buttons – and I thought they were perfect embellishments for this card.  I also embossed the background with a large spot type design – just to add a bit more texture.

These colours are easy to work with and there are so many lovely ideas that the Design Team have made…..Click here to go and have a look.

Just Add Ink # 76 – Inspiration

Now here’s a challenge for you…..it’s an Inspiration Challenge.  That means we at Just Add Ink will show you a Picture and you use it as Inspiration to put your project together.

Here is the Picture…….Makes you hope you were on Holiday aye?

Here is the project I made…………..

My idea was to kinda use the colours and shapes – with the Sea and Sky on the right and the building on the left.  I thought the stitching kinda represented the rought iron bits and the pleated card represented the shutters and the different parts of the building.  The flower represents the flowers around the balcony.  I have been wanting to have a go at pleating some card for sometime.  After making the I made another flower and dressed it up with a bit of ribbon and a tag.

Here is the link to Just Add Ink – so you can have a go too.  And also check out the other wonderful Design Team Creations.

Just Add Ink # 75 – Colour Combo

Just Add Ink has a fantastic Colour Combo for you to try out this week…..I think I will use this colour combo again – cause I really like it.  Here it is…..

I have a little story about what I made this week, which I will get to in a minute.
Firstly though – let me show you what I made using these great colours.  I had been flicking through a few magazines a few weeks ago and saw some pictures that I had marked to use at inspiration at a later date….so I got out one of them and used it.

I stamped and clear embossed the swirly stamp from Baroque Motifs onto some Newsprint DSP and the sponged it with Soft Suede Ink.  I roughed up the edges a bit and then attached it to the Cherry Cobbler card stock.  I used Black Stays On to stamps on some acetate and then cut it so it only covers the bottom of the card.  (It’s probably hard to see here though).
I then used the Sewing Machine to stitch in Black Cotton around the card a few times……and this is where my little story starts…….

I got the Sewing Machine out – I had borrowed – and started to set it up.  After threading it – I started to sew…..but NO – it didn’t work.  All the cotton bunched up at the back.  I knew I must have threaded it wrong…..so started again……but that didn’t work – so I tried again………but that did not work.

Now this went on for some time…….like about a little over an hour!
I’m sure you can imagine how frustrated I was by this time – that’s right – ready to throw something……..but I didn’t.

My Husband then said he was off to bed….but I said I HAVE to finish THIS first!!
And quickly and calmly (although a bit annoyedly) explained what was going on.

Being THE MAN he goes…..Oh well would you like me to have a look?
I was just like……Humrph – if ya want.

And typical – no joke within about 3 or 4 minutes he had a bloomin thing working!!   Darn it!

So – once I had finished stitching – I then added my ribbon, Flower – made from the Fancy Flower, Boho Blossoms and Two-step Bird Punches – and Words.  Then mounted them on the Very Vanilla and Soft Suede Card.

I found these colours just worked so well together.  The Design Team have put together some beautiful projects too.  I hope you have a go at making some thing with them.  Go to Just Add Ink to check out the DT projects and show us yours.
