JAI # 176 Just Add…Blokes!

I find, I make so many girly cards.  They are all pretty and flowery.  So this week’s Just Add Ink Challenge – Just Add Blokes was welcomed by me.
I put together a couple of Blokes cards – one of which I have already given away so can’t show it to you.   Here is the other one:

I used Basic Black, Basic Gray and Whisper White. The stamp set is Clockworks which is a very versatile set.

To see a whole heap of other cards/projects for Blokes visit Just Add Ink.
Have a go at the Challenge and share your Bloke projects with us too.

I also decided to put together (case) a few cards I have seen lately that can be used for Boys/Men too.

The first is the Lego Card (cased from Vicki Hodgman).  There are many Lego cards out there but I really liked the layout that Vicki had used.  Here is my version.

Believe me…..that’s a whole lot of dots!!

Next up I decided to make and Angry Birds card.  There are heaps of these around at the moment too.  My sister Nadine made one recently that I really really liked – it’s so cute.  Here is my version:

I thought this was so cute.  I (excitedly) showed it to Sarah and she said…..”Nah, it’s not as good as Aunty Noo Noo’s”!     Ohh  lol!

So, while at work I was thinking about it ….. thinking – how can I change that card to make it “MINE” ……. this is what I came up with.
DSC09998 (2)

So I folded it a bit differently and used a rubber band to hold it closed.

Then when you remove the rubber band and open it up there is another little Angry Bird flying through the sky on the inside.  Ha Cute!!
I actually think my Angry Bird looks more like an Annoyed Bird……but you get the idea.

A Special Birthday Book

Last year one of the Ladies at my work, Wendy – who is also my friend – Celebrated a special birthday.  Now at the time – she thought she had got away without anyone knowing……….but we found out!

So – when Wendy least expected it – we gave her a surprise Birthday Celebration.
Knowing that she is a fabulous Scrapbooker and Card Maker – and that I did some too – work asked me to put together a special card for her.

I had a few ideas and realised that I either needed a really really big card – or something else that everyone at work could sign.  So I decided to decorate a little book.  One of Wendy’s other great loves is the Eagles AFL team – their colours are Blue and Yellow – so that set the theme for the little book.

I really enjoyed putting this book together – it was made with lots of love for a fellow Paper crafter.  And it was perfect for everyone at work to write a special Birthday Message in for Wendy.

JAI # 111 – Just Add Easter

Wow – I can’t believe it’s nearly April!  That’s a quarter of the year gone already!
And that means it’s also nearly Easter…… There are thousands of Chocolate Eggs, Bunnies and Easter treats in the shops and I have seen heaps of cute and cuddly ones too.  Personally – I love toasted Hot Cross Buns dripping in melted Butter……yummy.   Anyway – I think I’m getting a bit off track here……hee hee!!

If you haven’t guessed yet – this week it’s Just Add Easter!
I put together a little Easter Basket.  It is actually based on a Template I got from AR Creations………although I have adjusted it a bit to make the bottom of it larger.
I made this out of Wisteria Wonder – which to me is a beautiful Easter Colour.  I stamped it with the Inspired by Nature stamps and made some bright flowers with the Boho Blossoms Punch and some Butterflies with Beautiful Wings.

I also used the Fancy Flower Punch to make a large flower for the top of the box.
This is a great Challenge to encourage you to have a go at making an off the page Easter Basket or box.  Visit Just Add Ink to check out what the Design Team have made.  Happy Easter Everyone.

JAI # 78 Colour Challenge

At Just Add Ink this week we have a Colour Challenge for you.  I thought the colours were great MAN colours – which was perfect for me because this week we have celebrated my FIL’s Birthday.  Here are the Just Add Ink Colour’s for this week:

Here is the Card I did:
For this card I took inspiration from a Card I had seen done for a previous JAI Challenge in the middle of last year by Naomi.  (I tried to find the link to her card but the link no longer seems to be working)  However…..if you see this Naomi – thank you for the inspiration – I loved the card you did and wanted to have a go at it myself.

I happen to have some Chocolate Chip Buttons – and I thought they were perfect embellishments for this card.  I also embossed the background with a large spot type design – just to add a bit more texture.

These colours are easy to work with and there are so many lovely ideas that the Design Team have made…..Click here to go and have a look.

Birthday Cards

One of the wonderful things about being a Card Maker and Stamper is that at special times I receive loads of beautiful cards.  It was my Birthday at the end of last month and I was surprised with an array of very special cards – I thought I would share them with you too.

Aren’t they all beautiful?  Thank you to all of you.

It really made my Birthday wonderful – so exciting to get the mail in each day (for a few weeks) and find so many wonderful surprises.
It also inspires me to explore new techniques, colour combos and ideas.
And….. there are more beautiful Birthday Cards here some where….but embassassingly I have to admit I have misplaced them!  Weird I know.  But I had a few of them that I was looking at the thinking about and mulling over.  As in – I was using them for inspiration for something I was doing.  But when I went to do this post I could not find them…..stached them somewhere special I imagine!!

Mystery Packets Class

Last night we did a Mystery Packets Class – the ladies did not know what I was going to hit them with this week…..there were 2 x projects both different and both a Mystery!!

For the first one, I gave them each a pack of 4 pieces of card……. Certainly Celery, Tangerine Tango, Peach parfait and Very Vanilla.  They got 4 stamp sets to use which were Hello Again, Basic Phrases, Always and Inspired by Nature.  Some inks and punches.  It was up to each person to make up their own project.

I am very impressed with the projects they made.  Here they are……

Gayle's
Alison's
Michelle's
Virginia's

Isn’t it amazing how you can all be given the same materials and come up with projects that are all completely different.  Aren’t they great.

Our second project was another Mystery Packet…..but this time they got heaps of bits and pieces.  They could ask me for one item – such as a piece of Ribbon, a Brad, a punch or another piece of Card.  Here are they projects …….

Michelle
Alison
Virginia
Gayle

So you can see the projects that everyone came up with were all very different.  I really enjoyed seeing the projects being put together and the differences in what everyone did.  I hope you all enjoyed do this class that was quite different to how we normally do things.

Just Add Ink – Sketch Challenge # 59

It’s Sketch Challenge time at Just Add Ink this week. This is the Sketch……

And here is my Card……

These colours were my sisters idea.  While we were chatting at the beginning of the week, we were also carding……Nadine in NZ and me here in Perth.  We both completed some cards and chatted and decided on colours while talking to each other on the Web cam…..it was almost like being there.

So I asked her what colours shall I do….and she said – Wild Wus-a-bee and Concord crush.  I said you know it’s Wasabi aye?  She goes…… no I thought it was Wus-a-bee…..so we had a little giggle over that.

Anyway – as you can see, it inspired me to use these colours for this challenge.  I’ve used Inspired by Nature, Woodgrain and Basic Phrases.  This is the 3D technique which is very effective.

The Just Add Ink Design Team have made some fantastic Cards with this Sketch, so I urge you to go and have a look at them.  And don’t forget to have a go at this sketch yourself.

Card Classes

Weaving Class

Last Wednesday I ran a Weaving Class – for this class I decided to make cards by Weaving some card.  I really liked how these came out.

On the first card with did, we used some DSP to weave a background.

The DSP is called Love Letter.  The colours are Basic Black, Riding Hood Red and Very Vanilla.  The Stamp is from the Time Well Spent Stamp Set.

For our second card I decided to Stamp on the pieces of card and then weave them.  Here it is……

The colours are Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive and Whisper White.  The stamp set is Inspired by Nature.

SU Perth Regionals

I had a great day out today at the Stampin Up Perth Regionals.  It’s so nice to get together will like-minded friends to stamp and craft the day away.

We saw loads of wonderful demonstrations and new techniques and ideas.  We also saw and played with new stamping products and colours.  It was great.  And I have a few pic’s to show you from my day.
From L to R – Alison, Me, Janet, Kerry & Jenny.  These lovely girls are in my downline.

The Klass Act Girls.  This is the Team that I belong too.  With our wonderful Leader Sarah Klass in the front (in the brown shirt to my left).

I was wrapped to catch up with these ladies…..we are all part of the Just Add Ink Design Team.  L to R Sarah, Jodene, Amanda, Me & Jan.

So as you can tell from these pics that a big part of Stampin Up and being a Demonstrator is meeting lovely people and making great Friends.

So what about the Stamping?   Ohh there was heaps of that.  We did some great Make n Takes using some of the new products and colours that have just been released.  So here they are.
This is a cute little Love Note card.

This is a lovely 6 x 6 Scrapbook page – I have stamped mine but not put it together yet because I want to put a pic on it first.

A cute box – which I have Stamped but not put together – so it would be easier to bring home.

All of these projects use the Every Moment stamp set which is awesome for the Watercolouring and Masking techniques.

When we go to a Stampin Up meeting most of us make up some cards to swap with others while we are there.  It’s a great way to meet each other – see new products, techniques and colour used and it also gives you a good amount of samples for you to show off. I made a few swaps to share.
Here are all my Swaps on the table before I left.
This is the first one – I used the Big Shot to make the Background sheet.  The colours are Riding Hood Red, Wild Wasabi, River Rock.

This Brayered background is done in Baja Breeze and the Trees are stamped in Night of Navy.

This is another Brayered one…..which you might have seen before – cause I originally made it for a Just Add Ink Embossing Challenge in July.

The swaps I received were awesome.  And they will inspire me with great colour combos, techniques and layouts.  I’d like to say Thank you to all the ladies that swapped with me.  I received about 35 cards.  I have decided not to post them all today.  But will do another post soon showing you my swaps and other card ideas.

Tea Light Class

Hey – great class last night.  I had so much fun putting the projects together beforehand – and then enjoyed seeing the ladies do them too.  The class was based around decorating or making little Tea light holders.

The first project we did involved decorating some wax tea lights and putting them in a little box.  This is a great little project and makes a fantastic little gift.

I have used the Circle Circus Stamp Set with Riding Hood Red, More Mustard, Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive.  The little box is made with Old Olive card and decorated with the Haiku DSP.

I’ve done a few of these in the past – and put them in different shaped boxes or done them with 3 x Tea lights and a mini hand cream.  Great gift idea!!

For our second project – I let the ladies GO WILD!!  So we ended up with a selection of Tea Light Holders.  Here are the ones I did.

I know they are slightly different……but that is cause I was messing round with the design a bit.  Anyway – I have used Inspired by Nature in Night of Navy with Navy Ribbon and Cardstock.

Here are the ladies fabulous Tea Light Holders.
