JAI # 220 Sketch Challenge

DSC00023

Kim has provided us with the Sketch for our Just Add Ink Challenge this week.  It’s a great sketch cause it’s reasonably simple and therefore has many possibilities.  Here is the Sketch:

Here is the card I made:

I used a stencil and some Sparkle Medium for the background and then added some little rolled flowers over the top.

Just Add Ink # 109 – Just Add Beach

Well Summer is coming to an end…..well so they say – although from the Temperatures and amount of Sun shine in Perth lately – I’m not so sure.  Summer is perfect beachy weather….and this week it’s a Just Add Beach Challenge.

When I looked in my cupboard I found a few beachy supplies.  I made a Sandcastle out of paper and used my Eyelet Boarder punch to make some tiny confetti to use as sand.
The stamps are from a variety of places – but all perfect images for this card.

JAI # 104 – Just Add Back to School

At this time of the year while all the Kid’s are start a new year at school and all the Mum’s, around the Country breathe a sigh of relief – we at Just Add Ink are doing a Back To School Challenge.

For this Challenge – I have put together a little Back Pack Treat Bag and some Fridge Magnets.

I’ve used Garden Green and Crumb Cake for the Back Pack.
I covered the Magnets with Crystal Effects – it dries clear and really finishes them off nicely.

The day after I had finished these – I had them sitting on my Craft table – and went to get them to take a picture of them – but they were missing!  Sarah! What have you done with my things?  Of course – the Magnets were on the Fridge……and the Back Pack was with the Barbie Dolls!

Follow this link to Just Add Ink to see what the rest of the Design Team have put together – and to upload your own Back to School project.

Just Add Ink # 75 – Colour Combo

Just Add Ink has a fantastic Colour Combo for you to try out this week…..I think I will use this colour combo again – cause I really like it.  Here it is…..

I have a little story about what I made this week, which I will get to in a minute.
Firstly though – let me show you what I made using these great colours.  I had been flicking through a few magazines a few weeks ago and saw some pictures that I had marked to use at inspiration at a later date….so I got out one of them and used it.

I stamped and clear embossed the swirly stamp from Baroque Motifs onto some Newsprint DSP and the sponged it with Soft Suede Ink.  I roughed up the edges a bit and then attached it to the Cherry Cobbler card stock.  I used Black Stays On to stamps on some acetate and then cut it so it only covers the bottom of the card.  (It’s probably hard to see here though).
I then used the Sewing Machine to stitch in Black Cotton around the card a few times……and this is where my little story starts…….

I got the Sewing Machine out – I had borrowed – and started to set it up.  After threading it – I started to sew…..but NO – it didn’t work.  All the cotton bunched up at the back.  I knew I must have threaded it wrong…..so started again……but that didn’t work – so I tried again………but that did not work.

Now this went on for some time…….like about a little over an hour!
I’m sure you can imagine how frustrated I was by this time – that’s right – ready to throw something……..but I didn’t.

My Husband then said he was off to bed….but I said I HAVE to finish THIS first!!
And quickly and calmly (although a bit annoyedly) explained what was going on.

Being THE MAN he goes…..Oh well would you like me to have a look?
I was just like……Humrph – if ya want.

And typical – no joke within about 3 or 4 minutes he had a bloomin thing working!!   Darn it!

So – once I had finished stitching – I then added my ribbon, Flower – made from the Fancy Flower, Boho Blossoms and Two-step Bird Punches – and Words.  Then mounted them on the Very Vanilla and Soft Suede Card.

I found these colours just worked so well together.  The Design Team have put together some beautiful projects too.  I hope you have a go at making some thing with them.  Go to Just Add Ink to check out the DT projects and show us yours.

Card Classes, Challenges

Mystery Packets Class

Last night we did a Mystery Packets Class – the ladies did not know what I was going to hit them with this week…..there were 2 x projects both different and both a Mystery!!

For the first one, I gave them each a pack of 4 pieces of card……. Certainly Celery, Tangerine Tango, Peach parfait and Very Vanilla.  They got 4 stamp sets to use which were Hello Again, Basic Phrases, Always and Inspired by Nature.  Some inks and punches.  It was up to each person to make up their own project.

I am very impressed with the projects they made.  Here they are……

Gayle's
Alison's
Michelle's
Virginia's

Isn’t it amazing how you can all be given the same materials and come up with projects that are all completely different.  Aren’t they great.

Our second project was another Mystery Packet…..but this time they got heaps of bits and pieces.  They could ask me for one item – such as a piece of Ribbon, a Brad, a punch or another piece of Card.  Here are they projects …….

Michelle
Alison
Virginia
Gayle

So you can see the projects that everyone came up with were all very different.  I really enjoyed seeing the projects being put together and the differences in what everyone did.  I hope you all enjoyed do this class that was quite different to how we normally do things.

Just Add Critters

Hey cool theme this week on Just Add Ink….and I can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with.  Here’s my card……

Haaaa – it’s a Christmas Santa Cat!!

I did not have any Critter Stamps – so decided to make a Punch animal.  Then I remember I already had this little fellow sitting on my desk – so I added his hat and belt and there you go.

I’ve used Cherry Cobbler, Vanilla and Old Olive.  The DSP is the Jolly Holiday papers.  I CASED this layout from a cool Owl card that my sister made.

So go check out all the fab creations at Just Add Ink.  And don’t forget to show us your entry too.
