Kelly’s Blog Host Project

Image may contain: textHappy Saturday to all…..I hope you are keeping well?

With the world in various stages of social distancing, isolation or lockdown at the moment, the wonderful Kelly Kent has come up with a wonderful idea to share projects and bring joy to all.

Kelly has organised a blog host and I’m playing along.  That means we (those participating) all create a project and share at the same time.    Fun idea aye??

You can find a master list of Blogs on Kelly’s Blog.  So you can go through and have a look at what everyone has created.  And I will also endeavour to add a link to the next blog on the list at the bottom of this post….(after all the posts go live).

So What did I make??
Well in fact I’ve been quite busy in my craft room lately (one of the bonuses of social distance and almost isolation I guess).  So, I have a number of cards to share.

So here’s a few cards from my craft room:

Now, this is a Stamp set that I have been wanting to use for a while.  It’s called Capture the Good.  I mixed it up with my take of Bruno Bertucci’s scrap background.   I really like the bold colours.

This card layout was inspired by a card on Page 83 of the Annual Catalogue (the Giraffe one) and uses the Forever Blossoms Stamp Set.

Lastly, another Stamp Set I’ve been meaning to use…. Let it Ride!  The layout also started from the Sloth card on Page 83 of the Annual Catalogue.

All of these cards are already in the post – on their way to someone’s mail box, to spready joy, love and let them know I’m thinking of them.

If you are in lockdown or isolation, perhaps you can get crafting too.
A BIG big thank you to Kelly for Blog Hosting us, as we all adjust to life done differently.

Happy Stamping everyone!

Just Add Ink # 490 – Just Add an Easel!

Image may contain: possible text that says 'Join the challenge! Just Add İnk justaddink.blogspot.com.au Just Add an Easel Challenge #490'

Just Add an Easel is the Challenge this week at Just Add Ink.

I decided to make an Easel card which is a fun fancy fold that is surprisingly easy to put together.  It has a built-in easel, which means the main artwork on the card stands up beautifully.  The easel part of the card then lies flat for mailing.

For this challenge I decided to step it up a bit by making a Quad Easel card.   This means that I made 4 easels and attached them to one card base.

JAI # 490 9

I used a variety of Stamp sets for this project.  Lovely Lilly Pad Stamps and Dies, So Happy Together, Fabulous Flamingo.

I also used a variety of colours.  The main ones are Granny Apple Green, Garden Green and Melon Mambo.  I love the bright and boldness of them.

To join us for this Challenge follow this link to Just Add Ink.  While you are there, check out the rest of the Easel inspired cards from the Design Team.

Just Add Ink #453…”Choose Two”

The new Just Add Ink Challenge this week is Easter themed and perfect for some long weekend crafting.   Jan has provided us with a “Choose Two” Challenge.  You can choose out of Bunnies, Flowers or Crosses.

Although I am not participating in this Challenge – because I am away from my craft room, you can check out all the Design Team projects at Just Add Ink.    And you can play along with the Challenge too – enjoy!

So what have I been up to this week???  I’ve had a super week – work, sight-seeing and some Crafting…….

Amersfoort
One day during the week I worked in a place called Amersfoort.  Amersfoort is a city in the province of Utrecht about an hour or so by train from Rotterdam.  I finished work a little earlier than expected so I decided to check out the sites.

And WOW – what a beautiful place……..The city grew around what is now known as the central square, the Hof and parts of city/area date back to 1000 BC.  The city had a defensive brick wall that needed enlarging, so a new wall was built (around 1380-1450).  The second wall, included a combined land and water gate called the Koppelpoort (pic below)

The Onze-Lieve-Vrouwentoren (Tower of Our Lady) is one of the tallest medieval church towers in the Netherlands at 98 metres (322 ft). When it was built, it was the middle point of The Netherlands. The nickname of the tower is Lange Jan (‘Long John’).IMG_4917[2]The construction of the tower and church was started in 1444. But the church was destroyed by an explosion in 1787.   The tower survived the explosion which is strange because when you walk up to it, it’s a huge tower standing all by itself.

Kinderdijk
Kinderdijk  is about 15 km east of Rotterdam.  I got there via Water Bus – which was fun.  Kinderdijk was built around 1740 and is a systems of 19 windmills that were built to drain water from the land.  This group of mills is the largest concentration of old windmills in the Netherlands.

And here is this funniest thing I saw all week……while I was on the Water bus, I saw this man who took his Cat to Kinderdijk in a bag around his neck!   Once we got off the boat, I caught up with him to see if I could take a pic.  His cat seemed quite happy.

I also got to do a bit of Crafting too……. Here I am with Lotte Noordzij-Walther.
Lotte invited me over for Coffee and we ended up Crafting all afternoon.  We each made a few things (that I will share soon).IMG_5952[1]

Lotte gave me this sweet Easter Card that she had made me.  When I opened it, the Bunny spun around in the centre of the Oval.
