Just Add Ink Challenge # 312

A friend of mine mentioned to me the other week (while we were crafting) that she really like the Shabby Chic style…….so I decided I’d give it a go.  And I have been mulling it over for a few days.

So now that it is time for the new Just Add Ink Challenge (#312) I thought…….OK now’s the time to give it a go……….

Challenge # 312 at Just Add Ink is a Colour Challenge – and I think it’s a lovely one.   Really helps that my fav colour is Blue…….

JAI #312

So here is the card I came up with:

JAI # 312 Chantell

I did have much in the way of Mint Macaron, so had to improvise a wee bit.  And I thought to make it truly Shabby Chic, it should have been a bit more aged, but because I was working on sticking to the colours I decided not to add any colours that would make it look more aged.

These colours are stunning and I am looking forward to see what you all come up with for this challenge.  Join us at Just Add Ink for this challenge.

Just Add Ink # 277 – Colour Challenge

We have a sweet Colour Challenge for you this week at Just Add Ink – very pretty colours

JAI #277

I found that I did not have very much in the way of Mint Macaron in my craft stash – so I had to improvise a little bit.  I think it turned out OK though.DSC00006

Just Add Ink Challenge # 276 – Just Add Cards for Males

Sometimes, producing a ‘Man Card’ can be hard to do.  I often ask my husband his opinion and if there is any hint of glitter or ribbon – he deems it “just tooooo girly”!

So this week at Just Add Ink we are sharing our Man Card ideas, for the Just Add Cards for Males Challenge.

Here is the card I put together for this challenge:

As you can see – there is no glitter, flowers or ribbon……so I think it fits!

Head on over to Just Add Ink for more Cards for Males – the Design Team have some great cards to share.  Join us for the Challenge and share your projects with us.

Just Add Ink # 269 – Colour Combo

It’s Color Combo time at Just Add Ink this week and it’s a great Colour Combo too – put together by Kim.

This incorporates a couple of the In-colours, Tip Top Taupe and Lost Lagoon and then two very pretty blues, Soft Sky and Pool Party.

JAI 269

When I looked in my stash of stuff in my craft room I realised I did not have any Tip Top Taupe and the only Soft Sky item I had, was some ribbon.  So I did have to improvise a little.  Instead of Tip To Taupe I used Crumb Cake.  Here is my card.

DSC00102With such pretty colours (can you tell I like them) you HAVE to go and check out what the Design Team at Just Add Ink have made – beautiful.  And then, join us for this Challenge too.

The Weekend to End Womens Cancers – Walk

I have had a busy couple of weeks….well weekends really….

As many of you have heard, I completed the Weekend to End Women’s Cancer Walk last weekend.  And I had a great time doing it.

It was 7.00am on Saturday that we started out from McCallum – after an address from a man in a Pink Tutu (who happened to the be the head of the Harry Perkins Institute) and some inspirational words from a Cancer Survivor, Lee.

Day One of the course took us round Mill point and past the Zoo, along Como beach, across the Canning Highway bridge, down Matheson Road, through Ardross to the Esplanade and back over Kwinana Freeway, past Collier Park Golf Course, through South Perth back to McCallum Park.

Lee that addressed the walkers at the beginning of the day, ended up being my walking companion for last 7km on day one……she inspired me to keep going and we chatted all the way.

I came in on day one tired but not sore.  Then I snuck off home to rest.

Day Two, the course opened at 6.30am – we went across the Causeway and under the bridge, around the WACA, up into Northbridge.  There were lots of strays, making their way home from the night before!!  We then headed towards Mount Lawley, through Hyde Park, through Leederville and along the Mitchell Freeway.  We went around Lake Monger, past Subiaco Stadium and down through Kings Park.  We walked along Mounts Bay Road and over the Narrows, along the South Perth Esplanade back to McCallum Park.  I finished up with a couple of small blisters – but not too bad overall.

The entire weekend was a lot of fun.  The event was very well organised, with plenty of food, water, support and cheering along the way.

A total of $2.2 Million was raised for Women’s Cancer Research with 845 Walkers

I’d like to say a big THANK YOU to those of you that donated to this cause. You helped me to raise just over $2100.  The money we raised is being used right now for new equipment and research staff to fight cancer.

And – I enjoyed it so much…..I want to do it all again next year.  With some friends, I am putting a team together – cause it’s so much easier to walk with a buddy or two.  So if anyone is keen to join us in a year’s time, let me know.

JAI # 198 Blog Hop

HNY! 2014!
Welcome to the first JAI challenge for 2014. We are kicking the year off with a Blog Hop.

Here’s how it works…… There are 15 stops on the Blog Hop (JAI and each of the Design Team Members).

Because the Blog Hop is set up in a loop, it does not matter where you start.  All you need to do to follow along, is click the Blog Hop Button at the end of each post and you will be taken to the next stop.

This Blog Hop also incorporates the Just Add Ink Challenge for this week. You can join in this week’s challenge by making a project using the Thinlits or Envelope Punch Board.

I know that not everyone will have the Thinlits or Envelope Punch board on hand (like me) – so if you don’t you can still join in the Challenge by making a flip/swing card of your own.

Here is my version:

Now it’s time for you to move onto the next lovely JAI Design Team Member – Christine.Just click on the button below to move onto Christine’s Blog.

Bye Bye November……

Wow – it’s the last day of November…I just don’t know where the month went. My last 3 months have been busy busy busy – as it’s our busy time at work. There have been long busy frantic days and late nights and catch up around home weekends – but it’s finally done. Funny how at this time of year – beginning of December most people start to get frantically busy and I (and the others I work with) do the opposite….we’ve done busy – now we go into slow down mode. It’s nice!
So I realise that I have not posted anything during November…..and thought I would make use of: a). having got out of bed early. b). it’s Saturday. c). the last day of November. and post a cards and things I have done during November.

So first up…….Just Add Ink # 193 Inspiration Challenge

This week we have an Inspiration Challenge from Kim.  It’s perfect for getting inspiration for your Christmas projects (although that’s not what I did LOL).  This is the Inspiration Picture:
Here is my card:

As you can see – it’s kinda not Christmasy – but Stars are so versatile like that!  I was watching the final of Dancing with the Stars when I made it – so my colour inspiration and glitter came from the costumes which are always beautiful.

The Just Add Ink Design Team were all “STAR” struck this week and have put together some beautiful inspirational projects.  So go check them out at Just Add Ink and add your project too.

Swan View Show

The other fun fun thing I did during November was enter some of my craft things in the Swan View Show.  I have kinda been working on this on an off during the year.  The show is just a little show and it’s just fun to do something within the Community.

I did pretty well and won a few prizes.  Here are some pics……(some are a bit fuzzy cause I just did it quickly on my phone – but you’ll get the idea).

2013-11-16 14.58.36
And this is the one I was most chuffed with – cause it was my first real go at Crocheting.

I also won the overall Handcraft Prize from the show – so that was extra fun.

Oh and by the way – even though I was busy I did manage to stop and smell the roses. Well not literally……instead I enjoyed the Jacaranda trees that have been in bloom across Perth. I really should take a pic of them….cause they are magnificent.
