Travel Update…..the past Month or so.

Well June was a very busy month of Travel throughout Europe.   Here are a few of the highlights…..there were so many!

I finished up work at the end of May and my husband Neil and daughter Sarah joined me in Europe for a holiday.   I showed them around Rotterdam and Holland (Amsterdam, the Hague, Kinderdijk etc) which they loved.

We then headed to Paris for a couple of nights.   Climbed the Eiffel Tower, visited the Louvre and had the Best Day ever at Disneyland.

Munich was the next stop – where Neil got his Lederhosen on!  Neil loved the Beer and Sarah loved the Pretzels!

We went onto Venice – which we all loved.

Rome came next.   The crowds were a bit overwhelming and it was very dirty and hot.

We finished up in London and the UK!    We had another big day at Harry Potter World.  We spent a glamourous night at Rochford Hall and discovered Hornsea – where we found a boat covered in Knitting!   Very cute!

We spent our last day in London visiting Tower Bridge.  I was very surprised by how much the London skyline has changed. So many new and modern buildings.

So we are now back Home, very tired and a little fluey…….but having had a wonderful holiday!

Hi from Europe / Update

Hi there,

You may have noticed I have not posted anything for a few weeks now……well that’s because I am off adventuring!     So, I thought I would pop in and give you an update of Where I am and What I’m doing……

At the end of last year, my work offered an opportunity for a few staff members to take up Secondment assignments in Europe.   I thought that it sounded like a wonderful opportunity so applied for it (not thinking it would happen to me)!

Hahahaha!  But it did happen….and now I am here in Europe!  Who’d have thought!

I am in Rotterdam, working in our office here until the end of May.  Then I will be taking some time to travel and see the sites in a few countries before returning to Australia.

How’s that for an adventure aye???

I arrived in Rotterdam on 15th March (a few weeks ago now) and was met at the airport by a work colleague.  After giving me a quick tour of the office and city orientation they left me to explore the city for the weekend.

My fav place so far……The Market Hall (Below).  It’s a large food hall with the supermarket at the bottom.  It’s kinda quite touristy but all the locals come here too.  At lunchtime everyone in the offices comes here to get lunch.  We come as a group and get what we want.  I’m really enjoying trying all the new and different foods.   I love the artwork.  It’s always a busy place.   And, see those windows in the roof??? – Well believe it or not but the outside of the building is all apartments.  Cool huh?

Yeah – so that’s where I am.  I will be checking in to share my adventures and hopefully sharing some craft moments with you too.

Just Add Ink Challenge # 312

A friend of mine mentioned to me the other week (while we were crafting) that she really like the Shabby Chic style…….so I decided I’d give it a go.  And I have been mulling it over for a few days.

So now that it is time for the new Just Add Ink Challenge (#312) I thought…….OK now’s the time to give it a go……….

Challenge # 312 at Just Add Ink is a Colour Challenge – and I think it’s a lovely one.   Really helps that my fav colour is Blue…….

JAI #312

So here is the card I came up with:

JAI # 312 Chantell

I did have much in the way of Mint Macaron, so had to improvise a wee bit.  And I thought to make it truly Shabby Chic, it should have been a bit more aged, but because I was working on sticking to the colours I decided not to add any colours that would make it look more aged.

These colours are stunning and I am looking forward to see what you all come up with for this challenge.  Join us at Just Add Ink for this challenge.

Just Add Ink # 277 – Colour Challenge

We have a sweet Colour Challenge for you this week at Just Add Ink – very pretty colours

JAI #277

I found that I did not have very much in the way of Mint Macaron in my craft stash – so I had to improvise a little bit.  I think it turned out OK though.DSC00006

Just Add Ink Challenge # 276 – Just Add Cards for Males

Sometimes, producing a ‘Man Card’ can be hard to do.  I often ask my husband his opinion and if there is any hint of glitter or ribbon – he deems it “just tooooo girly”!

So this week at Just Add Ink we are sharing our Man Card ideas, for the Just Add Cards for Males Challenge.

Here is the card I put together for this challenge:

As you can see – there is no glitter, flowers or ribbon……so I think it fits!

Head on over to Just Add Ink for more Cards for Males – the Design Team have some great cards to share.  Join us for the Challenge and share your projects with us.

Just Add Ink # 269 – Colour Combo

It’s Color Combo time at Just Add Ink this week and it’s a great Colour Combo too – put together by Kim.

This incorporates a couple of the In-colours, Tip Top Taupe and Lost Lagoon and then two very pretty blues, Soft Sky and Pool Party.

JAI 269

When I looked in my stash of stuff in my craft room I realised I did not have any Tip Top Taupe and the only Soft Sky item I had, was some ribbon.  So I did have to improvise a little.  Instead of Tip To Taupe I used Crumb Cake.  Here is my card.

DSC00102With such pretty colours (can you tell I like them) you HAVE to go and check out what the Design Team at Just Add Ink have made – beautiful.  And then, join us for this Challenge too.

The Weekend to End Womens Cancers – Walk

I have had a busy couple of weeks….well weekends really….

WK_PR_14_01[1]

As many of you have heard, I completed the Weekend to End Women’s Cancer Walk last weekend.  And I had a great time doing it.

It was 7.00am on Saturday that we started out from McCallum – after an address from a man in a Pink Tutu (who happened to the be the head of the Harry Perkins Institute) and some inspirational words from a Cancer Survivor, Lee.

Day One of the course took us round Mill point and past the Zoo, along Como beach, across the Canning Highway bridge, down Matheson Road, through Ardross to the Esplanade and back over Kwinana Freeway, past Collier Park Golf Course, through South Perth back to McCallum Park.

Lee that addressed the walkers at the beginning of the day, ended up being my walking companion for last 7km on day one……she inspired me to keep going and we chatted all the way.

I came in on day one tired but not sore.  Then I snuck off home to rest.

Day Two, the course opened at 6.30am – we went across the Causeway and under the bridge, around the WACA, up into Northbridge.  There were lots of strays, making their way home from the night before!!  We then headed towards Mount Lawley, through Hyde Park, through Leederville and along the Mitchell Freeway.  We went around Lake Monger, past Subiaco Stadium and down through Kings Park.  We walked along Mounts Bay Road and over the Narrows, along the South Perth Esplanade back to McCallum Park.  I finished up with a couple of small blisters – but not too bad overall.

The entire weekend was a lot of fun.  The event was very well organised, with plenty of food, water, support and cheering along the way.

A total of $2.2 Million was raised for Women’s Cancer Research with 845 Walkers

I’d like to say a big THANK YOU to those of you that donated to this cause. You helped me to raise just over $2100.  The money we raised is being used right now for new equipment and research staff to fight cancer.

And – I enjoyed it so much…..I want to do it all again next year.  With some friends, I am putting a team together – cause it’s so much easier to walk with a buddy or two.  So if anyone is keen to join us in a year’s time, let me know.
