Just Add Ink Challenge # 561 – Shaker Card!

Nikki suggested that we “Just Add a Shaker” for our Just Add Ink Challenge this week – I was wrapped about that – cause I love Shaker cards. They are really fun to make, send and receive.

Shaker Cards that I have previously made, usually include a window front design, with one or two types of “shakeable” materials sandwiched between two tightly sealed layers, so that the shaker contents are visible.

For this challenge though, I decided to make what I am calling an “Open Shaker Card”

I made a window that goes all the way through the card. I then strung a whole load of beads on some thread and placed them in the window. So they “Shake” up and down on the strings.

I used the Plentiful Plants Stamp set with a retired die and embossing folder.

While playing with Shaker cards this week I also made another Sunflower Shaker that was based on a card I made about 15 years ago, while going to some card classes in NZ.

I used the Sunflower dies to create an inlaid Sunflower and then turned that into a Shaker.

Here is the original Shaker that I made in class all those years ago……..

So now I have shown you a few different Shaker Cards, you can go to Just Add Ink to see what the Design Team have made and share your Shaker Cards with us too.

Just Add Ink Challenge # 549 – Choose Two!

This week the Just Add Ink Challenge is a Choose Two Challenge. The elements you can choose from are Feathers, Leaves or Petals.

I used the recent Sale a brations stamp set – “A Touch of Ink” to create a little Pizza Box with mini 4 cards.

The stamp set is a Two-step stamping set where you can stamp the outline and then the fill-in colour. It’s a wonderfully quick and easy way to create.

I realised that I managed to include Feathers, Leaves and Petals on my Pizza Box project, which was not planned…..haha!

Social Stamping – Sunshine

Hello,  here in WA (where I am) it’s a glorious sunny day today, with clear blue skies.   Just lovely!    The Social Stamping “Sunshine” Theme, fits today perfectly.

For my Sunshine card, I gathered together an array of Yellow papers and made a Sunburst panel.

The sentiment I used comes from the Share Sunshine digital stamp set.  It’s a one-off PDF download that Stampin’ Up! has designed to raise money to support Covid-19 related charities.

It has HEAPS of fun sentiments (appropriate for our current situation) that can be used on cards or scrap book pages that you are creating.

Things like “Sending love & Paper Hugs” or “There’s No Place Like Home (for now) or the one I have used on my card today….. Sending joy and sunshine, not germs.

You can get your version here:
https://covid19.stampinup.com/products/giving-back-intl-en

The PDF is $12 US dollars which is converted into your local currency.  When purchasing, make sure you select the correct language version for you!   I don’t receive any commission from the sale of this PDF all the money will go to the relevant charities

Just Add Ink Challenge # 505 – Thinking of You

Image may contain: text

During this time, when many of us are staying home a lot, away from friends, family, work and the likes, it’s important that we all check in on each other.   A great way to do that, is to send or give cards!   Perfect…..cause I have a few of those!

I also think it’s a nice idea to send cards to anyone you know, that might be doing it tough right now or to Thank people who are working hard looking after others, in Health, on the front line or in Essential jobs.  Sending a card is a great way to brighten someone’s day and let them know you are Thinking of Them.  That’s why I suggested “Thinking of You” for this weeks Just Add Ink Challenge.

The cards I’m sharing this week are all Bright and Bold.  They all feature the Peaceful Poppies DSP.

IMG_1166

The Design is fairly simple – because the DSP is so bold and bright – but really…..the fun is on the inside.IMG_1167

This DSP is so beautiful – it’s too nice to cut!   Therefore, I made the DSP a feature on these cards.IMG_1169

This one has a Blackberry Bliss base.IMG_1172

And this one is Poppy Parade….IMG_1173

These cards are called W Fold cards.  I mixed up the layout on the inside of this one.IMG_1174

Meanwhile in the Craft Room…..

When I was in the UK, at the Stampin Up OnStage event (in April), I saw examples of projects made with the new Daisy Lane and Medium Daisy Punch.

I also saw some wonderful punch art flowers, similar to those in the current Stampin Up Annual Catalogue (see page 23) and they were the inspiration for my latest card class.

We decorated a Gift Bag.

Here’s a close up of the Decorated panel.  I just love the vibrant colours against the black background.  It was fun to put together and I think I will be making a few more of these flowers.IMG_9732

I also put together a little matching card – although the colours are different.IMG_9734

Just Add Ink Challenge # 429 – Vellum!

Image may contain: text

The Just Add Ink Challenge this week is all about adding Vellum.  Vellum is a great addition to cards and 3D projects.  On my card today, I have die cut some leaves as an embellishment.   My card is a CASE of a card from the current Stampin Up Annual Catalogue 2018-2019…..see page 9.

And below…..see my take on the card.     Die cutting shapes with Vellum is a fun way to add it to your projects.

No automatic alt text available.

Looking back – I have used Vellum in my Just Add Ink Challenges for some time.

Below is the card I made in Just Add Ink Challenge # 2!   I used the Vellum to make some flower petals…..

The challenge was to Just Add Hearts – so my idea was to have flower petals look like they were flying off and making Heart shapes.

You can find one of my popular Vellum projects in JAI # 125 – Just Add Winter where I made some Vellum Luminaries.   I also did this in a class Tea Light Class

Follow this link to the Vellum Luminaries – Tutorial

And below are a couple more examples of using Vellum…… Velum flowers and Butterflies.

So, spend some time playing with Vellum this week….and share your projects with us at Just Add Ink

Just Add Ink Challenge # 325 – Sketch!!

I like working with Sketches because I find having a Sketch as a starting point makes it easier to start putting the elements of my cards together.  The Just Add Ink Sketch Challenge this week been put together by Tina – and I think it is going to be a very popular challenge.  Here is the sketch:

JAI #325...Sketch

Here are the cards I made using this Sketch:

Just Add Ink # 315 Sketch Challenge

We have a Sketch Challenge this week at Just Add Ink.  The sketch was put together by Tina.   Here it is….

Often, when  I am creating things for Just Add Ink Challenges, I am also making them for other things too…….friends birthdays, challenges that I am doing with my sister or as projects for card classes.  So this week I was thinking….how can I incorporate this Challenge and something else at the same time…….

Then last weekend I went out for a night of crafting with friends, where we all made a few boxes…..and this really inspired me to come up with this project…….which will also be used for a class project.

I used the sketch on the top of the box.

An inside……it’s a Secret box!

Cool huh?   And fun to make too.

JAI # 202 – Just Add Stripes

This week is Just Add Stripes week.  For this Challenge I had an idea for a Black and White theme – however once I got crafting I ended up with some black and white stripes and some bold bright colours.   I actually ended up making 4 cards that I am also using for a Stamp a Stack Class.  Here they are:
