Just Add Ink # 275 – Sketch Challenge

We have a sketch challenge at Just Add Ink this week.  It’s a fairly simple sketch so there are lots and lots that you can do with it.
JAISketch_2011275A couple of weeks ago, I made some Alcohol Ink background sheets to use in a class and a few people commented that they had not used that technique before – so I decided it was time we revisited the technique.

I used the technique on this weeks Challenge card.DSC00012I am sure there are many many wonderful things you can do with this sketch.  We love you to join our challenge and share your projects with us at Just Add Ink.  While you are there, you can check out all the great Design Team projects too.

Below is a copy of the tutorial I did on the technique in 2010 for the Just Add Ink first ever Blog Hop (13 May 2010).

The Technique I am showing you today is the Ink & Alcohol Technique

Using Re-inkers, Isocol Alcohol, Glossy White Card and a Cotton Ball you can create funky and unique Backgrounds.

Step One – Squeeze some Isocol Alcohol (which you can buy from your Supermarket or Pharmacy) onto a Cotton Ball.  Add some dots of Ink from your reinker onto the cotton ball.  You can use several colours.

Step Two – Dab the ink onto Glossy White Card.  It dries quickly – and you can go over the same area a couple of times if you wish.

This creates fabulous multi-coloured backgrounds which you can use on your projects.

Another option is to Stamp an image with Versamark and emboss it before covering with Alcohol Ink.

Once your Alcohol Ink has dried – polish off any excess ink with a Tissue.  This really makes the image stand out.

Challenge # 272 – Just Add…..Butterflies

Just Add Ink Challenge # 272 is Just Add……….Butterflies!!!

Well – I can guarantee from the outset that this is going to be a very very popular challenge.  Let’s face it – we all LOVE butterflies.  They are so intriguing and delicate – not to mention beautiful.  So – get those craft things out and show us your Butterfly!

Here’s mine!

I used one of the Butterfly Thinlet Dies to create this.  I decided I want to have a go at making an inlay butterfly.  That means that I cut 3 Butterflies – one Black, one Orange and one White.  Then I glued the Black outline down first on some card and then stuck all the little Orange and White bits into their rightful places.  It’s fiddly and time-consuming – but I think the effect is worth it.

So here’s my complete card:

I made this for a very special person.  Check out all the other beautiful Butterflies / projects at Just Add Ink – and show us yours too.

There are many different ways that these photos can inspire you and we’d love to see what you come up with or if you need further ideas on what you could create visit Just Add Ink

I’m going to send this card to a friend of mine, who I have just heard lost her husband a few months ago.   I was quite sorry to hear he had passed away and sad that I had not heard earlier.  However, I did smile when I thought of all the funny little things he used to do and say and of the joy he brought to our lives in his own way.
