Just Add Ink # 348 Ombre

Here’s the new Just Add Ink Challenge.  #348 Just Add…Ombre.  This challenge was suggested by Rochelle and it’s one I have been looking forward too since it was first discussed by the Just Add Ink Design Team last year.

The definition of Ombre, is having colors or tones that shade into each other —used especially in fabrics in which the color is graduated from light to dark.

It also an old three-handed card game popular in Europe especially in the 17th and 18th centuries – although I don’t know much about the game!

But the colour side of it can be applied to so many things in so many ways.   In terms of Hair colours it’s often dark at the top fading to light at the bottom – and looks fantastic.  But it does not have to be restricted to just hair colours………

I put together a couple of Ombre cards, using different effects.

This is the perfect challenge to practice your brayering or sponging too.   So have a go with us!

Just Add Ink # 287 – Inspiration Challenge

I haven’t posted anything for a couple of weeks because I have been so flat out with work and other activities.  I have found myself very drained at the end of each day – so venturing into the craft room or near the computer has not been something I’ve wanted to do.  However, we now have a little lull at work in the middle of our busy season – so I’ve been back in the craft room.

This week at Just Add Ink we have a Challenge designed to get the Inspiration going.  These lovely images provided by Jodene………….

There are some wonderful colours in these pics not to mention the shapes.  Here is the card I put together…..

JAI # 129 – Sketch Challenge

I’ve had a very quite time in the craft room lately – not much happening at all – there’s been holidays, sickness and just the need to have a little rest.  But I’ve been back in the craft room this week – pottering around.

I have put together a little card for the Just Add Ink Sketch Challenge this week.  Firstly – let me show you the Sketch.

I decided to flip the Sketch over and approach it from a different perspective……

This was fun and colourful to put together.  I’ve used the All in the Family and Just Beachy Stamp Sets.

This Sketch has inspired the Design team in many many ways – visit Just Add Ink to see the variety of idea and things you can do with one Sketch.  And then have a go yourself and share it with us.

Just Add Ink # 105 – Colour Combo

It’s Colour Combo time.  Here are the colours, they are really beautiful………

To me – I thought these colours were quite girly and pretty.   However, I decided to use them on a boys card.

I just loved playing with this Stamp Set – it’s called Dinoroar.  They are so cute and can be used for both Boys and Girls.

The Design Team have put together some beautiful projects using these Colours – go to Just Add Ink and check them out.

JAI # 103 Colour Combo – Red n White

Oh my Goodness…..it’s February already!  Can you believe it?  And you know what that means don’t you?  Valentines Day.  All those lovey cards, soft toys, over-priced flowers and surprise engagements………. ohhhh isn’t it lovely!   Therefore, our Theme at Just Add Ink this week is Valentinesy – It’s a Red & White colour Combo.

For this Challenge – I was actually inspired be a card that had been given to me last month.

First I brayered a Heart shape with Real Red and Cherry Cobbler.  Then I cut out several Butterflies in different Reds and then stuck them on.  I decided not to add a Sentiment to this card at all – because I thought it could be used for a number of occasions.

Just Add Ink # 70 – Sketch

Far out – 70 Just Add Ink Challenges so far – can you believe it.  Isn’t that wonderful?

So I hope you join in and play along with # 70 which is a Sketch Challenge.  It is a round Sketch……

There is so much you could do with this sketch – here is the card I did

When I made this card I had been making Kid’s Cards…..so I used the little owl and brayered a background for him

Here is is open……

I really like how the leaves/branches came out actually – it as a bit of tricky cutting and glueing but worth it I think.

You should see what the other girls have made – awesome man…..check them out here at Just Add Ink.

JAI # 64 – Chocolate Wrapper Colour Combo

It’s Colour Combo time at Just Add Ink.  But this one’s a little different!

Normally – we at Just Add Ink tell you what colours to use……but this time you get to choose the colours.
And it will help if you have a particular chocolate bar that you love because the challenge is……..

To make a paper craft project inspired by your favourite chocolate bar wrapper.

So what’s it to be?  Mint, White, Dairy, Nutty, Caramel…….the list goes on.

For me – well I don’t really have a favourite chocolate…..I do prefer White Chocolate – so I chose the Cadbury Dream.

I used the Brayer to do the background in 2 x colours – Marina Mist and Tempting Turquoise.  Then I punched the Birds out in Chocolate Chip and Concord Crush.  I added a bit of Very Vanilla to represent the Dream!

What a fun Challenge……The Design Team thought so and have come up with some yummy creations for this week. You may have to hop on over to their blogs to see what wrappers they were inspired by.  Visit Just Add Ink here.

Just Add Ink – Sketch Challenge # 59

It’s Sketch Challenge time at Just Add Ink this week. This is the Sketch……

And here is my Card……

These colours were my sisters idea.  While we were chatting at the beginning of the week, we were also carding……Nadine in NZ and me here in Perth.  We both completed some cards and chatted and decided on colours while talking to each other on the Web cam…..it was almost like being there.

So I asked her what colours shall I do….and she said – Wild Wus-a-bee and Concord crush.  I said you know it’s Wasabi aye?  She goes…… no I thought it was Wus-a-bee…..so we had a little giggle over that.

Anyway – as you can see, it inspired me to use these colours for this challenge.  I’ve used Inspired by Nature, Woodgrain and Basic Phrases.  This is the 3D technique which is very effective.

The Just Add Ink Design Team have made some fantastic Cards with this Sketch, so I urge you to go and have a look at them.  And don’t forget to have a go at this sketch yourself.

Aus-NZ Challenge – February

The February Challenge with Kim and Nadine was to use the current In-colours which are Blushing Bride, Poppy Parade, Concord Crush, Peach Parfait and Pear Pizzazz.  Again – we all came up with total different projects.  Here they are:

Kim’s one came with Yummy’s!  She put together a Sweet Treat Cup Flower Card.

It’s sunny, bright and IRL glittery too.  Kim has used all of the In-colours on this card and they look fantastic.  The inside of the card is also stamped with a pretty design around it too.

Nadine’s card was also Bright and vibrant.  She used the Brayering Technique and a mask.  Then did some silhouette stamping.

These colours look awesome together.

My project started as just a 3D box for each of them…..but then I decided that I need to use more colour – so I made some little cards to go inside the box which is bundled up in some Cellophane bags.

Here are the Boxes…..the Pink went to Nadine and the Green to Kim.

And these are the cards.  I used the SAB Stamp Set, Sweet Summer.

Bright Bursts of Colour – JAI # 53

Oh the most perfect Technique that I know of for Bright Bursts of Colour would have to be Joseph’s Coat.  It’s quite easy to do and very effective.  This is the card I put together for the JAI # 53 – Bright Bursts of Colour Challenge.

To make this card I started by rubbing some Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie Ink onto some glossy cards.  Then I stamped and embossed the images using Versa-mark Ink and Clear Embossing Powder.  Using my Brayer and some Early Espresso Ink I covered the card totally and then rubbed off any excess ink to expose my Bursts of Colour.
