Social Stamping – War & Peace

Image may contain: textI’m playing along with Kelly’s Social Stamping again this week and the theme is War & Peace.

Today is Anzac Day in Australia and New Zealand.  It is a national day of remembrance in both Countries that commemorates all Australians and New Zealanders who served and died in all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations, along with the contribution and suffering of all those who have served.

Therefore, with a theme of War and Peace, my card today is an Anzac card.

I used a mix of chipboard, dies and inks to put my card together.

I also made another Poppy card, with my Poppy Moments Dies.IMG_1048

So what’s been happening in “Stay at Home World” this week…..well not much to be honest.  Work, school holidays and more learning to communicate electronically.

Last week you may remember I mentioned I went for a walk at the local park – an found that I was the only one there.

Well in contrast, the following day, I walked a local ‘old’ railway track, which I found it very populated…..obviously everyone had the same I idea and went out for a walk.

We took the old car out for a drive and enjoyed the sunset on the way home.IMG_1038

And the seeds in our garden, sprouted……very exciting!!IMG_1019

Aus-NZ Challenges, Challenges

Aus-NZ April Challenge

In April Nadine, Kim and I did a technique challenge……the theme was Cracked Glass or Stained Glass.  The projects we came up with were all quite different.

Nadine’s card reminded me of a Church Window…..although it has flowers on it.  I really love the colours she has used.

Here is a close up picture – sorry it’s a bit fuzzy.  I really liked the technique Nadine used – so decided I am going to do a Class using this technique soon.

Kim used a beautiful Butterfly image on her card.  It looks like it is sitting on the window with rich red curtains behind it.

It’s really hard to tell from the pic that the colours on the Butterfly are really bright, vibrant and metallic.

On my card(s) I used the Cracked Glass Technique using several layers of thick Clear Embossing Powder….then I put it in the freezer for a while – then cracked it.

Aus-NZ Challenge – February

The February Challenge with Kim and Nadine was to use the current In-colours which are Blushing Bride, Poppy Parade, Concord Crush, Peach Parfait and Pear Pizzazz.  Again – we all came up with total different projects.  Here they are:

Kim’s one came with Yummy’s!  She put together a Sweet Treat Cup Flower Card.

It’s sunny, bright and IRL glittery too.  Kim has used all of the In-colours on this card and they look fantastic.  The inside of the card is also stamped with a pretty design around it too.

Nadine’s card was also Bright and vibrant.  She used the Brayering Technique and a mask.  Then did some silhouette stamping.

These colours look awesome together.

My project started as just a 3D box for each of them…..but then I decided that I need to use more colour – so I made some little cards to go inside the box which is bundled up in some Cellophane bags.

Here are the Boxes…..the Pink went to Nadine and the Green to Kim.

And these are the cards.  I used the SAB Stamp Set, Sweet Summer.

Aus-NZ Challenge – January

Since moving to Australia in 2008 – my sister, Nadine and I have been running a little Monthly Challenge between us….although last year we got a little side tracked and is kinda flopped a wee bit.  Also while living here I have done Card/Project Challenges with my friend Kim too.

This year we have decided to get together and do a monthly Challenge.  So what we have to do is make one thing (but two of them) and then give them to each other.  Therefore mine go to Kim & Nadine and I receive back one from each of them.

The January Challenge was to make Cards/projects using one colour (or one and a neutral really) so a Monochromatic project.  I have now received their cards.  We all used different colours….. here they are.

Nadine used Blue (my fav colour)…..She used the Beautiful Wings Big Shot Die that I sent her for her Birthday and my most used Stamp Set Baroque Motif.  The glitter on this card is stunning and Nadine has used tiny little beads on wire for the middle of the Butterflies and antenna.

Kim used Purple (another awesome colour)………..Butterflies were also the feature.  Kim used a great technique of including the large Butterfly in the Big Shot Embossing.  It’s really effective and I will have to give this a go.  Perhaps you can see what I mean by seeing the 2nd pic?  I love the Sentiment Kim has used too.

I did Green…………..and I too used the Big Shot to do some Embossing.  My inspiration for this card actually came from Joan Jeffery, who had made a great Mustard one for the Just Add Ink # 51 Challenge.  I loved the card Joan did so this is my version of it.

I was thinking of going with Butterflies too…..but changed my mind at the last-minute and used the Felt Flowers.
