Way back in July I made a Card and some Luminaries for the Just Add Winter Challenge (JAI # 125). I had several people ask me about how I made them so I have put together this tutorial for you.
They are quick and easy to make, are great for decorating tables, mantles and also make cute little personalized gifts.
The steps I used to make these luminaries and my dimensions are as follows……
I started with 1 piece of Night of Navy card stock that makes the base of the luminary and a piece of Vellum that makes the sides.
My dimensions are as follows:
1 – 3“ x 3” . I scored this at ½” on each side.
1 – 4” x 8.5” – score this at 2”, 4”, 6” and 8”’s
Cut slits into each side of the Night of Navy card stock and crease to make your box shape. Using sticky strip put the box together..
Stamp your Vellum. I have used the Lovely as a Tree stamp set with Night of Navy Ink. But they can be stamped to suit the occasion you are making them for.
Fold and crease your vellum along the score lines – so it makes the outside box shape. Run some sticky strip down the ½” section – this goes on what will be the outside of the luminary (but don’t stick it together yet).
Run a strip of sticky strip around the outside edge of the luminary base.
Starting with the ½” section of the vellum, stick the vellum around the base.
Remove the sticky strip from the side of the vellum and stick the vellum wall together.
Your luminary is now complete and you can decorate it with ribbon (which also hides your sticky strip at the bottom and add a small embellishment if you wish.
I use the battery operated tea lights in mine – which are very safe.

Hello, well there are only 12 more sleeps till Santa comes! We have the Tree up and decorated, lights adorning the house and planning has begun for the food preparation and holidays ahead. It’s a busy busy time.
The girls at Just Add Ink are having a short break over Christmas/New Year too – but before that we have one more challenge for 2012…….. Just Add Christmas
So that should be easy at this time of year. This JAI 148 challenge will go for two weeks so that we can see all of your beautiful gifts, cards and even your Christmas table displays!
I decided to make another Christmas card – and actually took my inspiration from a Birthday Card I received from Trish Radacs. It’s a beautiful colourful floral card – and I really really loved it. Here is what I made.
I used some White sparkly card that really shines. It’s cool.
Here is the card that Trish sent me for my birthday that I used for inspiration. Isn’t it lovely.
So I hope you have some fun putting together some Christmas projects and sharing them with us. Visit Just Add Ink to see the wonderful Christmas projects put together by the Design Team and to share yours with us too.
As I said before, we at Just Add Ink are having a short break from Challenges, but will be back with a blog hop mid January – which you wont want to miss. We will have some tutorials and blog posts while we are gone too so hope you come back and support our blog over the break. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and New Year – Happy Holiday Crafting!!

Hello….I really have not got much to blog about today – but it’s 12/12/12 – so I thought I would post something anyway!! Funny huh?
So here’s something I thought I would share…….. a couple of weeks about we had our local Show Day just round the corner at the local park. We all went along – mainly cause Ana has joined the Committee to help organise it. It’s a show that has rides, hot dogs, show bags etc but also has competitions in all sorts of things – fruit, veges, poultry, art, hand crafts, flowers and plants, other live stock etc……so I decided to enter a few of my cards.
I won 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes! Whooops!
So now the challenge is to enter again next year – but not just in the Card making category. Bit of Community fun!
