Hi everyone…..welcolme to the Fancy Folds Blog Hop (JAI # 75). Ohhh, this is so exciting – and I know you are just going to love seeing what all the girls have in store for you this week.
Joy Fold Card
For this Fancy Folds Blog Hop – I decided to do a Joy Fold Card. I decided on this because, it’s pretty easy to do but quite effective.
The one I have put together for this Blog Hop is quite simple but I just really wanted to show the actual fold / technique. The steps I used to make this card and my dimensions are as follows……
I started with 2 pieces of Pacific Point card stock that make up the base of my card.
1 – 8 ¾ “ x 4” . I scored this at 5 ¾”
1 – 9” x 3”. I scored this at 4 ½”
The other pieces of card I have cut are the layers for decoration. You could use one layer for this or DSP if you wish.
My dimensions are as follows:
1 – 5 ½” x 3 ¾”
2 – 4 ¼” x 2 ¾”
1 – 5 ¼” x 3 ½”
2 – 4” x 2 1/2”
I layered and stuck the larger Bashful Blue and Whisper White pieces into my large Pacific Point piece. I stamped some Flowers and a Butterfly on the outside flap. These are from the Every Moment Stamp Set.
I layered and stuck the Bashful Blue and Whisper White pieces inside my smaller Pacific Point piece. I stamped a Butterfly onto it. This will be the inside of your finished card.
I then layered and stuck the remaining Bashful Blue and my Flower piece to the outside of the small Pacific Point bit. This then kinda looks like a little card – that opens the wrong way. (Fold on the right hand side).
Then I put some adhesive on the back of the smaller card and stuck it to the inside centre of the large card. So when opened – it kinda looks like a card with an opening on both sides.
I hope you have a go at making a Joy Fold card – let me know if you do.
Now it’s time for you to move onto the next fabulous JAI DT member – Nikki, who has another awesome Fancy Fold for you to try. Just click on the button below to take you there
Ohhh – a Sketch Challenge. When I get a Sketch Challenge to do I and I have no Cards that I’m thinking of making – I like to have a go at a bit of Scrapbooking……..and that is what I did with this sketch.
Here is the sketch……
I had been wanting to use that picture of Sarah for some time. I really love the photo. It was taken by Ana in February last year when we were at Garvey Park celebrating Ana’s 21st Birthday. We had had a BBQ and the girls were running round the park as the sun was going down.
I have used Peach Parfait and Chocolate Chip. The DSP is called Sunny Garden.

We are colour in at Just Add Ink this week……..there are loads and loads of things that can be done with colouring in. I decided to take my inspiration this week from the Stampin Up Idea Books and Catalogues.
First I flicked through the Current Catty to find a colour combo. It’s from pages 50 & 51 of the current Catty. Concord Crush, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive and Baja Breeze.
Then I flicked through the 2007/2008 Catty to find a Layout on Page 95. HINT: I keep all my old Catties – cause they are great to use for ideas and inspiration. There are so many ideas to help get you started creating something new.
So here is the card that I came up with…….
I was amazed when colouring the flowers. I used one colour – Concord Crush and an Aqua Painter. I got such a range of colours from purple right through to pink! Wicked!

In April Nadine, Kim and I did a technique challenge……the theme was Cracked Glass or Stained Glass. The projects we came up with were all quite different.
Nadine’s card reminded me of a Church Window…..although it has flowers on it. I really love the colours she has used.
Here is a close up picture – sorry it’s a bit fuzzy. I really liked the technique Nadine used – so decided I am going to do a Class using this technique soon.
Kim used a beautiful Butterfly image on her card. It looks like it is sitting on the window with rich red curtains behind it.
It’s really hard to tell from the pic that the colours on the Butterfly are really bright, vibrant and metallic.
On my card(s) I used the Cracked Glass Technique using several layers of thick Clear Embossing Powder….then I put it in the freezer for a while – then cracked it.
The Challenge this week at Just Add Ink is Just Add Black and White. I found it to be a great project theme – I really like working with the contrasts. I used to use alot of white on my cards but over time have moved away from doing that so it took me a bit of fiddling round to get to the end result. Here it is………
I started by stamping the background with Whisper White Craft Ink……then thought – I want my White to be stronger – so embossed some of the images over the top……and it was OK – but I decided it need more dimension – so that bit went in the bin and I started again.
I still did the background Stamping but then made the Torn Window and stamped, embossed and cut out the individual leaves to stick in the window. I used the Just Believe Stamp Set.
The Design Team have made some beautiful Black and White projects…..check them out here. And don’t forget to have a go yourself and join in the fun.
One of the wonderful things about being a Card Maker and Stamper is that at special times I receive loads of beautiful cards. It was my Birthday at the end of last month and I was surprised with an array of very special cards – I thought I would share them with you too.
Aren’t they all beautiful? Thank you to all of you.
Far out – 70 Just Add Ink Challenges so far – can you believe it. Isn’t that wonderful?
So I hope you join in and play along with # 70 which is a Sketch Challenge. It is a round Sketch……
There is so much you could do with this sketch – here is the card I did
When I made this card I had been making Kid’s Cards…..so I used the little owl and brayered a background for him
I really like how the leaves/branches came out actually – it as a bit of tricky cutting and glueing but worth it I think.
You should see what the other girls have made – awesome man…..check them out here at Just Add Ink.
