Inkspiration Sketch Challenge #29

The Inkspiration challenge this week is a Sketch Challenge – I really enjoyed joining in last week – so thought I would give this one a go too.  There was also a little “Add On” to the Challenge this week – which is to use something from your stash that you have been hoarding for a while.   EASY – I have heaps of stuff like that!!  This is the Sketch.

Makeesha+Sketch+029-1

Here is the card I created.

There are actually a few things on this card that I have had in my Stash for a while…..

Firstly the 3 Flowers from the Pretties Kit.  I have had my Pretties Kit for about 2 years and have only just started to use the flowers.  I have coloured the top two flowers and stamped on the largest one.

Secondly – the wide Twill Tape (which is under the Certainly Celery Ribbon).  Here I have stamped on it.  I have used it a couple of times – but it is one of those ribbons that I never use much.

I decided to make this a Z Fold Card – which luckily also fits with the sketch.  That works well for me because the Class I am running next week is a Z Fold Class.  So if you’re coming along – here is a preview of one of the projects.  (Unless I change it between now and then)!

Challenges, Just Add Ink

Just Add Patterned Paper

Another Just Add Ink week begins today with a new Challenge – Just Add Patterned Paper.

I did not know what to do with the Challenge this week – because there are so many beautiful Stampin Up Designer Series Papers – AND so so so many great things that you can do with them.

So after much humming and harring – I settled on a very simple card.

I got this layout from a Card I had seen about 2 or 3 years ago made by Pamela Smerker.   And I really enjoyed having a go at Stitching on a Card for the Just Add Ink Challenge a few weeks ago – so I decided to embellish this one with stitching too.

Here is the link to the Just Add Ink Blog – so you can go and check out the other Design Team Just Add Patterned Paper projects.  Don’t forget to play along with the Challenge too.

Candle Wraps

After having a couple of weeks without Classes – we kicked the classes off again last night by doing some Candle Wraps.

I first saw these done by fellow Team Member Jan Radu – as did Kerry another Team Member.  Kerry said to me – how about doing a Candle Wraps class – so we did.

The first one we did was one that I had put together for one of the Un-convention Challenges in May.  The Challenge was to use Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, More Mustard and Rich Razzleberry.

The next Candle Wrap was inspired by this Card designed by Kerry High.  We did it at our Team Day in January.  I really like it and look at it often – hence why it became my inspiration .

I did two Candle Wraps to inspire the ladies – and then gave them a few colour choices – so they mixed and matched to put their Candle Wraps together.  Here are the one’s I did.

One thing to remember – if you decided to do something like this – is to make sure the Candle Wrap is removed when lighting the Candle…….cause it could be dangerous if it catches on Fire.

3D, Brayering, Gifts, Secret Sister

Secret Sister Parcel

For the last few months I have been involved in a Secret Sister Group – where we all enter out name – get given a name and send stuff (cards & gifts) to that Person.

So that means I have been receiving some Happy Mail…..it’s so cool.  The round has now finished and so I thought I would show you some of the things I have received from my Secret Sister – Richelle Fletcher.

Look at that Awesome Necklace….cool huh!  And just my colours too.
Richelle sent this awesome Card for my Birthday.

The frame here has not photographed very well….it’s really cool.  Glittery and beautiful.

Thank you Richelle – I love it all.

Brayering, Challenges

Just Ink and Paper

While I was Blog Surfing the other day I came across the Inkspiration Colour Challenge.  I quite liked the sound of the colours and thought (since I’m being a Brayer’er at the moment)….Mmmm – I could Brayer those.   So away I went.

The colours are:

I actually made a couple of Cards.  And I like them both although this is more the look I was going for.

And the thing that I found interesting about this was that by the time I did my Brayer background, stamping and 3D imagey thing – I decided that I did not want to add any embellishments.  So there it is… Just Ink & Paper!!

If you’re wondering – here’s the other card I did.

So I was going for the 3D kind of look here too….but I did not really work.  I did it on Glossy Card – and spritz my flower image with water before I stamped it so it would slide around a bit.  But as I say – it didn’t work.  Also….NOTE TO SELF – Don’t Brayer on Glossy card again!!

Brayered Reflection

Ohhh look what I did last night!

The girls came over to Stamp – cause I was HOME ALONE!  What a great night we had.
My sister Nadine had done some Reflections projects recently so I wanted to have a go too – and I’m pretending to be a Brayer person at the moment so I combined the two to get this.

It’s So Saffron, Close to Cocoa and Baja Blue.

Just Add Ink – Colour Challenge

We are doing a Colour Challenge at Just Add Ink this week.  The colours are not really ones that I would have put together – but once I started playing around I ended up with a few finished projects.

The colours are:

This week I have also had a go at the Joseph’s Coat Technique – which involves colouring a piece of Glossy Card with a couple of different inks and the embossing some bold images over it with Clear Embossing powder.  Once you have done that you use a Darker ink to go over the top.  So I used this technique on my Just Add Ink Colour Challenge card.  Here it is.

I then used some of the off-cuts from that Card to put together another one.

Finally with these colours I did another Scrapbooking page.

So as you can see – these colours can be used in many different ways – and the Just Add Ink Design Team have made some fantastic projects that you must see.  So visit Just Add Ink now – have a browse and then make a Challenge entry your self.  See you there.

Brayering

Brayer Play

Well – here it is – my First (real) Brayered Card!

I have done a touch of Brayering before – but only with one colour.  This is the first time I have broken out of my comfort zone and used 3 colours!  Whoo hoo.  I know it’s simple but I am really wrapped with it.  My Brayering attempts in the past have ended up straight in the bin!

To do this I used the tips that Delys Cram gave us when we did the Just Add Ink Blog Hop in May. Thanks Delys.

Card Classes

Little Houses

Oh no….quiet a few of my Carding Ladies are not well.  So tonight’s class did not go ahead.  But I thought I would post the Cards I had prepared anyway even though we will probably do them at a later date.

The Ladies had asked me to do a Class using the Sale-a-brations set Good Neighbours – which is a cute little set with all the parts to make up some little houses.  Here are the cards I put together.

This one uses the Haiku DSP.  The colours are lovely and bright.

This is a CASE of a Card done by Paula Dobson.  I loved it so much and it stuck in my mind – so I had to give it a go.  It’s also the first card I had a go at Brayering…..with the sort of blended look.

And talking about Brayering…..even though our Class did not go ahead tonight – my friend Michelle came over to Card with me….I had a go at a REAL Brayered card.  And it worked!!  I am so wrapped with it.  It’s simple but not bad for a first attempt.  So I will post it here tomorrow for you to see….after I get some decent light to snap a pic.

Just Add Ink – Sketch Challenge

Wow – another week has flown by and we are just that little bit closer to Christmas!  Far out the year is flying.

I’ve been busy with all sorts of things this week – My Mum has been visiting – so we have been trying to make the most of her time here.  I have not been in my Craft room much.  But I did make a few little gifty things for my Mum to take home to my friend Kim and my Sister – which I will post here soon.

I also included part of Mum’s visit into my Just Add Ink project this week…which is a Sketch Challenge. This is the sketch.

Last Friday Mum, Sarah and I went to the Zoo.  We had a great time wandering around. I decided to do a Scrapbook page with some of the pic from the day.

I have a few more pics of our day – so I am going to try to put together another page to compliment this one – and make it a two page spread.  When I’ve done it I’ll post it here to show you.

I’ve used Chocolate Chip, Garden Green and Creamy Caramel.  On the left hand side of the page I made a little tabbed piece which pulls out.  I have written the story of our day on it.

BTW – Don’t forget to visit Just Add Ink to check out the other awesome Sketch projects by the Design Team.  And then you can go back later to add your Sketch Challenge entry on too.
