Challenges, Just Add Ink

Just Add Hearts

The second Just Add Ink Challenge is up and running.  With Valentines Day not very far away the theme of this Challenge is called Just Add Hearts.  Here is the Card I did as my Design Team Entry.

I used Vellum for the petals – stamped and embossed them, then coloured them and cut them out.  They curled up a bit – which was great because it created a lovely dimension to the card.

My idea was that Hearts were created by petals that were being blown off the flower.   When I had finished the card I had a conversation with my little girl that went like this……

  • Me – What does this look like?
  • S – A broken flower.
  • Me – And what else?
  • S – Hearts.

I was then happy that it was what I was trying to do.

This Challenge runs through till Wednesday 3rd February – you can do a card, scrapbook page or a 3D project.  So visit Just Add Ink to upload your project.

Colours used: Brocade Blue, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, More Mustard, Pumpkin Pie and Very Vanilla.

Remember:  There is Blog Candy up for grabs if you if you leave a comment at the end of EACH Blog Hop post.

January Calendar Page

During 2010 – my friend and fellow stamper Susan Joyce is hosting a 6 x 6 Monthly Calendar Challenge.  You can see her Blog here    January’s calendar theme is Let’s Party – Celebrate the New Year.

And as many of you know, I don’t do a lot of Scrapbooking – so I’ve decided to use the Monthly Calendar Challenge to create a little calendar album.

Here is my first page…..January 2010

The stamping in the background is all glittery – but you can’t really see it in the photo.  I decided on this because I was thinking – what does this time of year mean to me…..well it’s a new year and it’s all about summer and being hot and enjoying the warmth of the season.  This pic is of Sarah at Whale World in Albany.  It was a hot sunny summer’s day and she was enjoying playing in the play ground.

3D, Card Classes

Wednesdays Night Class

As most of you know – I have Card Class at my place each Wednesday night.  Some Wednesdays we do a couple of cards, some we do Stamp-a-stacks and some nights like last night – we do little 3D projects.

Last nights project was a little box – which has cards inside it.

I used the Neighborhood Wheel for this project, which was given to me by my Secret Sister Susan.  It’s such a cute little wheel.

Challenges, Just Add Ink

Sneek Peek!

You may have seen in the last few days that I have added a new badge to my blog?

Well – that’s because I am part of the Just Add Ink Design Team.    Exciting Huh??

What’s that?  I hear you ask .    Just Add Ink is a new Challenge Blog that is coming to a computer near you.     The launch date is 22nd January.  Hope you can join in and create along with us.

Here is a Sneek Peek of my submission for the first challenge.

Card Classes

Hand-made Flowers.

There seems to be a lot happening with Hand-made Flowers at the moment… I decided to create a Class around it – which is what the ladies did last night.

Our first Card was done by ripping, curling & inking some card to create the flowers.   The back-ground was done using the Hello Again Stamp Set & Retro Remix Wheel which are both from the current Summer Mini Catalogue.  Colours are Certainly Celery, Cameo Coral, Apricot Appeal & Lovely Lilac.

We used the Large Oval punch to create the petals for the flower on our next card.  We crimped the card and sponged the edges to give them a bit of texture.  In the centre we used the Chocolate Chip Super-fine glitter – probably hard to see in the picture – but it’s lovely.  The words we have done with another new product from the Summer Mini Catalogue – Chit Chat Rub-On’s.  There are heaps and heaps of sentiments to choose from in the pack and they come in Chocolate Chip too.

Stamp a Stack

SAS – Inspired by Nature

Last night the Ladies came over and we did a SAS.  We used the Inspired by Nature Stamp Set and Daubers to colour different parts of the Daisy stamp.

We used 2 x colour combos.  1 – So Saffron, Kiwi Kiss, More Mustard with a touch of Chocolate Chip.  2 – Kiwi Kiss, Cameo Coral & Ruby Red.

I really liked how they came out and find that at this time of year I have  a few birthday cards (friends & family) to get in the post or give out.  So I decided to use one of these cards.   Then I thought……nah – I might “Bling it up” a bit.  So this is what I did.

This is my SAS card

And this is my Blinged up version….

It’s slightly different in layout…..but the idea is the same.  Anyway – I posted it off today to a Birthday Belle…..I only hope that she does not read this blog!
