Just Add Ink # 110 – Sketch

Hey – we have a great sketch to work with this week at Just Add Ink.  It was put together for us by Mae Collins.  I really enjoyed putting my card together – main cause I had new stamps and DSP to play with.   Here is Mae’s Sketch:

 Here is my card:

I’ve used the Nautical Expedition DSP, Cherry Cobbler Bakers Twine and The Open Sea Stamp Set.  These are all from the Current Summer Mini Catalogue (that runs until 31st March 2012).  All of these products go together so nicely and are great earthly/manly colours.

The Design Team has come up with a wonderful array of Cards using this sketch – you can check them out here.  So come on – have a go at the Sketch – and show us what you have made.

JAI # 108 – Colour Combo

Here’s a great Colour Combo for you – given to us by Nikki Spencer.Given that I love pretty much all Blues – I really like this Combo.  The two blues – Pool Party and Indigo Island work so well together.  Here is my card……..

This is my new Stamp Set – it is called The Open Sea – and is perfect for MAN cards.   Also – I should mention where I got this sketch/layout from…….it’s actally from the 2007/2008 Stampin Up Idea Book & Catalogue.  I use my Catalogues a lot for inspiration – and even after they have retired as a Catalogue they are still full of fantastic ideas.

Just Add Ink # 81 – Colour Combo

Just Add Ink # 81 is a Colour Combo….it’s a good one to cause it could be used for both men or women.  Here are the colours.

With Father’s Day approaching I have been doing Man Cards this week….so I used these colours for a Father’s Day Card.

I did not have any Cajun Craze – so I have actually used the retired Really Rust instead.  Because it’s for a man I did not use any ribbons or embellishments – just stuck to layering the card stock and adding texture by distressing the edges and piercing a few holes.

This is a great colour combo – go and check it out here at Just Add Ink to see what the rest of the DT has put together.

JAI # 78 Colour Challenge

At Just Add Ink this week we have a Colour Challenge for you.  I thought the colours were great MAN colours – which was perfect for me because this week we have celebrated my FIL’s Birthday.  Here are the Just Add Ink Colour’s for this week:

Here is the Card I did:
For this card I took inspiration from a Card I had seen done for a previous JAI Challenge in the middle of last year by Naomi.  (I tried to find the link to her card but the link no longer seems to be working)  However…..if you see this Naomi – thank you for the inspiration – I loved the card you did and wanted to have a go at it myself.

I happen to have some Chocolate Chip Buttons – and I thought they were perfect embellishments for this card.  I also embossed the background with a large spot type design – just to add a bit more texture.

These colours are easy to work with and there are so many lovely ideas that the Design Team have made…..Click here to go and have a look.

Happy Birthday Dad

Today is my Dad’s Birthday.  Happy Birthday Dad – I hope you have a great day (and aren’t too hung over after your party last night)!

Sadly – I could not make it to NZ to celebrate with Dad – so I decided to put together a card full of Candles for him.  He’s 70 – so there are 70 Candles.

I have used DSP for the Candle sticks – and all  70 of them are different!  For the Flame – I used the Petal from Vintage Vogue and Rock’n'Rolled it.

S0 – Cheers to Dad!!

The Aliens Have Landed!

Today we are off to a Birthday Party.  My friends boy Kyle is going to be 9 – he is into Monsters and Aliens.  So I decided to make him a Space-ship card.   It was quick and easy to put together.  A bit of fun for the afternoon.  I did it so both sides of the card are the same.

Just Add Ink #48 – Sketch Challenge

Forty Eight Challenges!!  Wow – And I have almost done them all……What a great lot of fun I have had doing them too.  Some have been a real real Challenge for me….and others just happened.  I hope you have enjoyed coming over (to my blog) to have a look.

This weeks Challenge is a Sketch Challenge….so that means we have been given a Sketch and have made something to represent the Sketch.  Here it is..

I must admit…..I left this one till the last minute….and all the idea’s I originally had for it, I did not like and they ended up in the bin.  So, believe it or not – I turned to my scraps bin to try to find a pre-made image.  And I did….there is was – a brayering / reflection image I had done when I was showing some ladies how to do it.  So after playing around with it (a great deal) I decided it was the wrong shape……and then proceeded to start from scratch again!!

Here is the end result……

Decided on a Man Card.  And I had just received these Brads from a Secret Sister – so wanted to try them out.

Just Add Ink #48 is open for 2 weeks (due to the Silly Season), so we hope you will find some time to play along, maybe even get some inspiration to get those last minute Christmas cards.

So go check out what the Just Add Ink girls have put together for this Challenge – and then have a go yourself.
